Ich bin absolut begeistert von diesem Comic und empfehle es blind JEDEM Menschen auf der Welt. Dieses Werk von Scott McCloud bildet ungemein. Man lernt nicht nur viel über Comics, sonders auch über Cartoons, Mangas, Kunst, das Zeichnen, die Geschichte von Comics und Schrift und über Menschen selbst. Dieses Buch bildet auf so vielen unterschiedlichen Ebenen, dass es fast unglaubwürdig wirkt. Ich bin kein großer Comic Fan, habe selbst nur 3 Comics und ein paar Mangas gelesen, aber trotzdem will ich dieses Buch in meinem Leben nicht missen. Man lernt unheimlich viel, aber es fühlt sich niemals wie lernen an. Es ist ein sehr unterhaltsames Werk. Diese Gratwanderung zwischen Unterhaltung und Bildung ist dem Autor wunderbar gelungen. Jedes Kapitel bereichert das Leben des Lesers mit neuen Einblicken in die menschliche Psyche und dabei geht es fast nur um Comics! Wie sie lesen können, bin ich absolut begeistert und werde dieses Buch absolut jedem Menschen empfehlen, der in irgendeiner Weise mit Unterhaltungsmedien Kontakt hat. Kaufen sie diesen Comic und teilen sie es mit all ihren Freunden!

...zum Thema Comics und Sequential Art. Ich zeichne seit der Kindheit comicartige Figuren, aber habe das Ganze noch nie so umfassend betrachtet, z.B. das Menschen schon mit den Höhlenzeichnungen im Prinzip erzählende Zeichnungen produziert haben. In meiner Kindheit galten Comics nicht als Kunstform, eher als eine zweifelhafte Ablenkung wie es heute etwa Spiele auf dem Handy sind. Um so schöner, wie mir dieses Buch die Augen geöffnet hat, dass es sich natürlich um Kunst handelt und dass es Comics schon unfassbar lange gibt.Sehr schön gemacht. Das englische Original finde ich besser als die deutsche Fassung, gerade bei diesen kurzen Sprechblasentexten kommt manches in der Übersetzung nicht rüber.

UNDERSTANDING COMICS ist eines der faszinierensten Bücher, welches mir in letzter Zeit untergekommen ist!Ich muss gleich klar stellen das ich Comics zwar mag, aber weit davon entfernt bin, mich irgendwie als Experte auf dem Sektor fühlen zu können. Aber auch wenn man sich so wie ich eher beiläufig für Comics interessiert ist UNDERSTANDING COMICS eine geniale Lektüre.Der Grund ist zunächst mal, das UNDERSTANDING COMICS ein echtes Kunstwerk ist: es ist Scott Mcloud beeindruckend gelungen, ein Medium bis in seine Tiefenstrukturen zu erklären, indem er eben dieses Medium nutzt - ein Comic, um Comics zu erläutern. Hierbei nimmt McCloud den Leser auf eine faszinierende Reise mit: er zeigt, was ein Comic ist (ich war über seine Definition überrascht, muss ihm aber letztlich zustimmen) und welche Möglichkeiten dieses Medium hat. Hierbei geht er naturgemäß viel auf Thematiken wie Wahrnehmung, Linguistik und Gestaltung ein - und zeigt, welche Möglichkeiten in Comics stecken. Vor allem aber zeigt er, wie elegant es ihm gelingt, komplexe Gedankengänge mit ein paar Sprechblasen und ein paar Bildern darzustellen... das, was so manche Abhandlung staubtrocken erläutert zeigt McCloud lustig, spannend und enorm einprägsam.Insofern ist UNDERSTANDING COMICS in jeder Hinsicht interdisziplinär: Comicfans werden viel über das Medium erfahren, aber auch an Gestaltung, Kunst, Literatur, der Medien allgemein oder auch Wahrnehmung interessierte sollten auf ihre Kosten kommen. Mir ist klar weswegen dieses Buch so einen Kult begründet hat und woher sich seine Popularität herleitet, es ist einfach ein ganz großer Wurf.Alles in allem eine bewundernswerte Arbeit - selten wurden komplexe Themen unterhaltsamer erklärt! Dabei ist die gewählte Erzählform dieses Buch ein Comic, denn was könnte Comics besser erklären als ein Comic. Es ist einfach zu lesen und öffnet jedem Comic-Interessiertem die Augen. Nach dem Lesen des Buchs hat sich meine Wahrnehmung in Bezug Comics erweitert.Für alle Comicleser, -macher und -interessierte ist dieses Buch ein absolutes Muss.

Nachdem ich ein Opfer der Werbung geworden bin, habe ich mir das Buch bestellt. Der Preis war relativ happig, jedoch haben die Rezensionen viel versprochen- und wie gesagt, ich bin nunmal ein Opfer.Das Buch ist recht unterhaltsam wobei es für mich eher eine Art Biografie des Autors als ein "Ratgeber" ist. Der Autor hat ein Talent sich selbst als coolen "mir ist alles egal" Typen darzustellen und schiebt proforma immer wieder ein paar Weisheiten dazwischen. Er gibt es auch zu indem er sich selbst als "Loosertypen" beschreibt, der es immerhin dazu gebracht hat, dass Leute sein Buch kaufen und er somit Geld verdient. Tja, Bitte, gern geschehen.Alles in allem ist es ein Buch was ich nicht weiter empfehlen würde, da gibt es bessere und auch unterhaltsamere. Aber jedem das seine !

Habe das Buch schon zweimal durchgelesen und bin komplett begeistert. Das Buch kann einem den nötigen Arschtritt verpassen und stellt einen guten Kontrast zu normalen Self-improvement Büchern a la Tony Robbins etc. daMan wird angeregt, wirklich zu reflektieren und seine Werte zu hinterfragen. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen und finde dass es die Investition durchaus wert ist.

Are you looking at a fork in the road, and need to find a path through the next steps of your life?This book is for you.It doesn't give any of the answers, it gets you to ask yourself the right questions. If you can remember those questions, you will find your own version of what life means.

This book might help a little with minor anxiety, but it's clearly geared towards those who waste time worrying about things they can't change, rather than people who can't afford to just choose apathy. It's well-intentioned, but gets tiresome after a few chapters.

It doesn’t overwhelme you with advise on how to deal with life. It actually makes you rethink things and it changes your way of worrying about everybody and everything ( at least for me).Loved it and I can only recommend it to everybody that sometimes just worries about everything a little too much :)

Truly the only self-help guide you will ever need. If you are unsure about buying it, read some of Manson's articles on his blog first. You will by then certainly know if this book is for you. Nonetheless I recommend this book to everybody because it most definitely gives you a unique perspective on your life and yourself. This book is definitely worth giving a f*** about.

I was very excited about that book and couldn't wait reading it. Since it is a NYT Bestseller, expactations were quite high. But unfortunately I find the book very superficial. It is a nice Story told by an influencer pointing out values and giving insight to his life, but that's it.If you are looking for an "entertaining" and easy to read book it could be worth taking a look at it.But if you are interested in real and sustainable personal change and Inspiration, I believe this will not contribute to your goals. You are probably better of for example in working with Stephen Covey's book "7 habbits of highley effective people" which I can highly recommend. I did read both books just recently and after reading the 7 habbits the SAONGAF Book seems like a boaring and half-baked platitude.

The book will guide you through stages that you need to understand and accept in order to get your life in order. It will help you see things in a different perspective and realize why you're not where you want to be and how you can get there.It's very easy to read and also short but gets all the facts you need to get your ass up and start doing living the life you want.
